Review: A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas

Synopsis:

My Opinion:

A Court of Silver Flames is the first spin off from Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series (if you have not read it already, get on it!). The book follows Nesta and Cassian as they continue to put their lives back together after the war.

This book is an NSFW; you’ve been warned.

It was really interesting to see characters from ACOTAR from other points of view. In this case, it was from Nesta and Cassian’s PoV. I also loved that we got a split PoV. I’m always a sucker to see into the minds of both sides of a ship because what is happening in their mind is rarely reflected on the outside.

This book deals a lot with regret, depression, and a lot of other dark emotions. It’s really about Nesta overcoming all of these negative feelings to see that life is beautiful and worth living. So while it might be tough to read if you also experience these feelings, Maas did an amazing job of writing out a character arch that shows how to push through the bad to get through the good.

Summary:

Overall, ACOTAR is one of my favorite series and while I was a little hesitant to read a spinoff from it, I am very happy that I did. If you like action, adventure, romance, and the fae then this book is for you (after you read ACOTAR!).
